On Thursday July 4, 2024, James Bernard Green Junior, aka “Sparky” completed his journey on this earth and entered into eternal rest. He was born on August 20, 1935, in Washington DC to the late Elizabeth Green and James Bernard Green aka “Pepper”.

Sparky was educated in District of Columbia Schools and joined the United States Military, Army 101 1st Division Airbourne, “The Screaming Eagles.”

Sparky eventually met the love of his life Ruth Green, and they were united in matrimony who also proceeded him in death. As a result of their union, three children were born, James Bernard Green, III aka “Peanut” (Vera), Antonio Green (Denise) aka “Brittle” who preceded him in death, and Michael Green aka “Fats” (Benita).

Sparky was a Master Brick Layer that built several properties in the DMV. He taught his sons, nephews, and several friends the craft also. In addition, he worked in the front office of the “DC Bears Football Team”. He enjoyed life to the fullest and had a good heart. He was affectionally known as “The Godfather” as he helped so many. He enjoyed swimming, roller skating, going to jazz concerts, riding his bicycle, and hanging at Anacostia Park. Mostly, Sparky enjoyed hand dancing. Two of his favorite spots were the Chateau and Breeze Metro Club. He was one of if not the best hand dancer in the DMV and belonged to the hand dancing club in New York.

To continue his legacy are his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, one sister Marvel White; three brothers, Milton, Ronald, and Donald Green; four sisters-in-law, Evelyn Jackson, Olymphia, Donna, and Sharon Green; three brothers-in-law Andrew White, Bobby and Ronnie Jackson; and a host of other family and friends. Preceded in his death were two brothers Melvin and John, and four sisters Marjarie, Barbara, Juanita, and Rhoda.
